Home & Skillet is all about handcrafted kitchen provisions: I create and sew all the table linens, and Deane who’s been a chef for 35 years, prepares all the soups and spreads in our menu. So, I’m Home, and he’s Skillet. And we love what we do.

Before coming to Philadelphia, we ran our own restaurant with a friend in Montana. After many years of snowy winters, we moved south to Memphis where Home & Skillet was born at the Memphis Farmers Market. In the beginning, our stall featured Deane’s award winning gumbo (frozen by the quart) and two colors of linen kitchen towels. Our selection quickly grew into a rotating menu of soups cooked with locally farmed produce and meats, along with linen napkins, table runners and towels in an array of designs.

The look and feel of flax linen is irresistible, people gravitate hands stretched out towards the linens in our market stall. Soup has served as Deane’s culinary palette throughout his career and has become a specialty he never grows tired of making.

It was hard saying goodbye to Memphis and our friendly regulars at the farmers markets, but we’re thrilled to be in Philadelphia near family and friends and hope Home & Skillet will be a friendly regular in your kitchen wherever you may be.
